Peacock bass, the Miami canal way.
Reviewers say they walked in with no peacock bass experience and had one on the line the same day. Ask at the counter where they're biting, and start with the state's own advice.
- Live shiners are the best bait for peacock bass.
- They feed only in daylight, never at night.
- More than 300 miles of Miami-Dade and Broward canals hold them.
- Keep 2 a day, only one 17 inches or longer. FWC encourages releasing them.
